SURTECO SE, leading manufacturer of surface materials based on plastics and technical papers for the international construction and furnishing industry, generated sales of € 388.8 million in the business year 2010 and was therefore 14 % above the volume for 2009 (€ 341.1 million). While foreign sales increased by 19 %, an increase of 5 % was posted in the German market. The proportion of foreign sales rose by three percentage points to 67 %.
The Strategic Business Unit Plastics closed the business year with sales of € 226.4 million. This corresponds to a rise of 8 %. The paper segment generated sales of € 162.4 million (+24 %).
The SURTECO Group generated an operating result (EBITDA) of € 62.5 million in 2010, some 15 % more than in 2009 (€ 54.3 million). The pretax result (EBT) rose by € 14.4 million or 82 % to € 32.0 million. This was due to a significant improvement in the financial result from € -16.9 million to € -9.6 million. In 2009, the unfavourable share price performance of a package of shares in Pfleiderer AG, Neumarkt, necessitated an impairment amounting to € 6.0 million (2010: € 0.4 million).
SURTECO SE will publish the complete, audited annual financial statements for the business year 2010 on 29 April 2011.
